Count Your Blessings for Optimum Health!
This time of year we Americans start thinking about the one day that has been officially designated as the day to give thanks--to God, to creation, or maybe just to the cook. Being thankful is considered polite, and is a prerequisite if you are religious.
But did you know that being thankful and grateful on a regular basis can greatly affect our physical and mental well-being? Recent academic studies have shown that people who describe themselves as feeling grateful to others, to God and/or to creation in general tend to have higher vitality and more optimism, suffer less stress, and experience fewer episodes of clinical depression than the population as a whole.
These results hold even when researchers factor out such things as age, health, and income, equalizing for the fact that the young, the well-off, or the exceptionally healthy might have "more to be grateful for."
In addition, people who count their blessings tend to be less materialistic than the population as a whole and to suffer less anxiety about status or the accumulation of possessions. Partly because of this, they are more likely to describe themselves as happy or satisfied in life.
It has also been shown that grateful people are more spiritually aware and more likely to appreciate the interconnectedness of all life, regardless of whether they belong to specific religions In an experiment with college students, those who kept a "gratitude journal," a weekly record of things they should feel grateful for, achieved better physical health, were more optimistic, and described themselves as happier than a control group of students who kept no journals.
So if you want vibrant health, count your blessings! |
Have a Living Foods Thanksgiving
This year have a Healthy Thanksgiving by piling the table high with a variety of Living Foods. By doing so you will not only avoid seasonal weight gain brought on by an overabundance of Holiday treats, you will also gain a stronger immune system.
Living Foods are plant-based foods in their original uncooked, unprocessed state. They include fresh, raw fruits and vegetables, sprouted nuts, seeds, grains and legumes, and fresh vegetable juices. These foods contain a wide range of vital nutrients and live enzymes which are essential to the proper maintenance of human bodily functions.
The benefits of Living Foods are boundless. Research and real life experiences have shown that Living Foods have healing powers that can alleviate many illnesses such as low energy, serious allergies, digestive disorders, high cholesterol, candida, and weight problems. Living Foods can also prevent the body's healthy cells from turning into malignant cancerous cells, and can build a sturdier immune system that better resists and recovers from disease.

Worried about getting the flu this year? Lessen the risk by getting a massage regularly! Regular therapeutic massage sessions provide significant benefits beyond the immediate relaxation we enjoy.
People who experience high levels of stress tend to get sick more than others. Combine stress with lack of sleep and poor nutrition, and our body's ability to naturally protect itself against bacteria and infection is greatly reduced.
Numerous studies have indicated that massage can increase the immune system's cytotoxic capacity (the activity level of the body's natural "killer cells") and decrease the number of T-cells, which improves the body's immune functioning overall.
Massage increases the bodies natural killer cells, aids in the fight against bacteria and infection, and enhances the bodies ability to get nourishment to important areas.
