Healthy Water
Our water supply is bombarded with a vast array of chemicals and contaminants every day. Raw sewage, toxic runoff from farms and factories, household chemicals and pharmaceuticals are just a few of the contaminants that lace the water we drink every day. Municipal treatment facilities can get some of the contaminants out, but not all, and they add to the problem by adding chlorine. The addition of chlorine to our water hailed as the savior against cholera, typhoid and various other water-borne diseases when it was introduced. But recent studies have found that when chlorine is added to water it combines with other natural compounds to form highly carcinogenic Trihalomethanes (THMs).
Home filtration systems do remove many of the toxins, but they still fall short. There is a way, however, to ensure that the water we are drinking and cooking with is clean and pure: distillation.
