Reducing Stress With Massage Stretching
When you hear the term "stretching" you probably think of stretching exercises. Stretching exercises are important for people of all ages, whether you exercise or not. But there is another form of stretching you may never have heard about that can give you huge results: Massage Stretching.
Massage Stretching, a type of assisted stretching, transforms your body into a more flexible, relaxed and less painful state. We are usually "in control:" we tend to sit, stand and walk in a habitual way. And in doing so, we lessen our range of motion. Massage Stretching puts us back in knowledge and memory of the marvelous ranges of which our bodies are capable.
Massage Stretching increases your range of motion, which means your limbs and joints can move further, with less pain and stiffness. It offers an advanced form of flexibility training that involves both the stretching and contraction of the muscle group being targeted.
It is similar to Thai massage in that the therapist gently moves the various parts of your body in a series of stretches. You remain passive while the practitioner does the movements to you. It's amazing how much more we are able to move when another person is providing assistance and encouraging us to relax.
